Happlify: the best shopping guide + blog in the Netherlands and Belgium 💛

As you have already read in a blog post by Jinske, being creative puts your mind at rest . Especially if meditation is not immediately for you, a DIY project can be the outcome. That's why here's another nice blog post from Jinske aka iMakin. With this DIY you also make a beautiful object for your home where you can put your spring flowers or ... very hip dried flowers!

Flowers in the house always make me happy. In a bunch of flowers there are always flowers that have finished blooming faster than others. It's a shame to immediately throw away the whole bunch, but half a bunch of flowers also looks so sparse. You can enjoy the long bloomers for a while longer in this beautiful wooden vase holder.

Supplies:

  • spruce slat (80 x 5 x 1.6 cm)
  • ruler
  • pencil
  • miter saw
  • miter box
  • speed drill (17 mm)
  • fine grit sandpaper
  • glue or wood glue
  • 5 glass test tubes (ø16 mm x 150 mm)

Step 1

Place the wooden slat flat on the table and make a mark with the pencil at 26 cm, 52 cm and 66 cm. You now have two pieces of 26 cm and two pieces of 14 cm.

Step 2

Place the bar in the miter box and miter the bar (at an angle of 45 degrees). Make sure the corner slopes inwards. So for example: the top of the slat remains 26 cm and the bottom then becomes 23 cm.

Step 3

Take one of the 26 cm slats. Now measure at the top where the holes for the glass tubes should be. From the edge, that is at 3 cm, 8 cm, 13 cm, 18 cm and 23 cm. At these points also indicate the center at 2.5 cm.

Step 4

Drill a hole at all five points with the speed drill. Make sure that you hold the drill upright.

Step 5

Sand all slats smooth.

Step 6

Apply some glue to all ends of the slats. Press the parts together to form a rectangular frame. Let the glue dry well while you continue to press the slats. You can also use glue clamps for this.

Step 7

Place the test tubes in the holder. Fill the test tubes with water and add flowers.

This vase holder is not only great for fresh flowers, but you can also use it to style dried flowers.
