Preserve your memories and plan your New Year's wishes with the Time Capsule

  • 2 min read

Every year we open our own Time Capsule when cleaning up the Christmas tree. It is an ancient gold-colored paper Christmas bauble with a Christmas scene on it. The ball opens like a box, it probably once contained chocolates. Now the Christmas box contains items collected over time, all of which have their own meaning. A Mexican wedding couple with a baby lucky doll, a porcelain Lucky Neko, handmade felt angel, old Christmas light and a fortune cookie note from a Christmas dinner a long time ago.

But the most important is our annual letter. Here we look back on the past year. We name the highlights, the memories and what we are grateful for. And we describe what we wish for the new year. That's almost a kind of prediction and always exciting to read again after a year.

The ball hangs in the tree all Christmas time and it only opens again when all the Christmas decorations are cleared away. Around Epiphany. Then we look back on the old year with a glass of mulled wine and write the new letter. The Time Capsule is packed again among all the Christmas items to be opened again exactly one year later.

It is a beautiful tradition that gives the end of the holidays a little more charge.

I made such a Time Capsule letter for you. This allows you to look back on your year. You fill out the Time Capsule and keep it with a nice little memento of the past year. The memento can be a photo, a fortune cookie note, a sweet card... You name it.

Store this in a box or envelope with your Christmas items. Put it away and then see what you did and learned a year later. Super fun 'for later' if you do this year in, year out!

And? Are you going to work on this? It is a fun activity to do together with the family during the Christmas holidays.
