Elf on the Shelf: a great Christmas tradition to cherish

  • 2 min read

Every year when the Christmas stuff comes out of the storage room, the Elf on the Shelf fun starts again. A super fun tradition for small and big children :) Originally, the Christmas elves are Santa's curious helpers, and they have a special mission: monitoring the behavior of children during the holidays. Read all about this beloved tradition here and discover how you can make the time before Christmas a little more enjoyable (and more fun, so less stressful).

What is the Elf on the Shelf?

Elf on the Shelf is not just a funny Christmas decoration; it's an interactive tradition that brings families together in the run-up to Christmas. It all starts when the elf enters the house at the beginning of the season. Every morning, children find the elf in a new place, usually doing something they shouldn't, resulting in excitement and wonder. Moving the elf offers parents the opportunity to be creative and create a magical atmosphere in the home. You can do so many fun things with sweets and little notes!

The history of the Elf on the Shelf

The origins of the Elf on the Shelf date back to 2005, when Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell published the book of the same name. The story, which quickly became a Christmas classic, tells of the adventures of the scout elves sent out by Santa Claus to keep an eye on children. These curious elves report to Santa Claus at night about the children's behavior.

Sofia and her Elf

And speaking of small and big children... Sofia from Sofia's Brocante inspired me to write this blog post. Her Elf has been playing a nice role on her Instagram account in recent days. Following is fun!!

Who is the Elf on the Shelf for?

The Elf on the Shelf is really for everyone who likes a bit of fun and magic during the holidays. This tradition is especially popular among families with young children, but its enchantment often extends to all members of the family. It gives parents the opportunity to share the joy of the season and create memories that will last a lifetime.

In short, an elf is much more than a Christmas decoration; it's a symbolic tradition that connects families and adds an extra dose of fun to the holidays. So, let the elf's adventures begin and enjoy an enchanting Christmas full of wonder and joy!
