You know those days when you wake up and want to pull the covers over your head right away? You can of course give in to that and wallow in it, but that won't do you any good anyway. So get up and try to make something of it. And with these three little tips you will certainly succeed!
3 tips for instant happiness
- Have a 5 minute dance party
- Take a walk
- Make a list of all the things you are grateful for
Tip 1 - Have a 5 minute dance party
When you're feeling down, there's nothing better than dancing it all out. Push aside some furniture, turn on your favorite music and swing away. You may feel a little embarrassed to dance like crazy around the living room, but you will see that it will make you feel better. Of course you can also sing along.
And an extra tip: you can create a playlist on Spotify with songs that you are sure will always make you happy, then you only have to press a button for some instant cheerfulness! By the way, how about the Happlify playlist?!
Tip 2 - Take a walk
This sounds a bit like your grandma telling you to get moving and get some fresh air, but you know grandmas are always right! After a (small) walk you often feel a lot better. Especially now that we work at home a lot, we don't always get out enough and it is very tempting to stay behind the computer in your pajama pants all day. So hoppa get up and get out there. You really don't have to walk a full marathon right away, a small run during your lunch break, for example, does wonders. Also really try to avoid all modern incentives and turn off your phone. Listen consciously to the birds you hear singing and look at everything you come across. It not only makes you feel happier, it also makes you more creative. This way you can take it all again for the rest of your working day!
Tip 3 - Make a list of all the things you are grateful for
If Oprah has been doing this for years, it must be a good idea right?!
Research has shown that writing down a few things you are grateful for every day helps increase your happiness. If you do this for at least a week, this feeling of happiness will even last for half a year! By looking at what you are grateful for, you feel more satisfied with your life and you can also empathize more with other people. Reason enough to make this a standard ritual. Buy a nice notebook and start writing. And yes, if you are intensely grateful for a bag of chips, you can of course write that in it.
